Group of kittens cuddling together

Every year, we receive hundreds of motherless kittens. These kittens need to be kept warm as they are unable to regulate their own body temperature, and they require bottle feeding or, in some cases, tube feeding.

Every hour matters for these little orphans, and we are reaching out to you to provide them with all the necessary resources to survive.

We rely on our extraordinary network of 40 foster families who take care of these kittens every day. In exchange for the ongoing efforts of these families, Proanima provides them with all the necessary supplies such as food, milk, bottles, heating pads, scales, thermometers, litter, medication, and any other supportive treatments.

Here is how your donations will be used:

  • $10 donation: baby bottle or thermometer
  • $20 donation: balance
  • $25 donation: heating mat (need 15)
  • $35 donation: heating disc (need 10)
  • $40 donation: a can of milk for a kitten (need a minimum of 20 cans)
  • $60 donation: a pack of bottle teats
  • $100 donation: a complete kit for an orphan kitten
Senior black dog

Since the opening of the shelter, we have noticed a shift in the clientele we care for. Senior animals are now an integral part of our daily routine, and we aim to provide them with the same opportunities as our younger animals.

In addition to experiencing significant stress from changing environments at an advanced age, these animals often suffer from silent pains that go unnoticed.

To ensure their comfort and enable them to find a family, we invest a significant amount of time and resources in their care:

  • Dental scaling and extractions.
  • Mass removal
  • Geriatric blood panel to assess the health status of organs.
  • Radiography
  • Specialized diet

With the help of public donations, we are able to provide more care for our senior animals.

In order to help reduce the stray cat population, we have a sterilization clinic specifically for these cats.

Unsterilized cats reproduce very quickly and thus contribute to creating several problems within the community such as being a nuisance for the neighborhood (territorial marking, cat fights, cat in heat) along with cats developing diseases, being undernourished, and increasing the birthrate leading to unwanted kittens being abandoned in refuges, etc.

The Capture-Sterilization-Release-Maintenance (CSRM) program aims to capture cats from colonies, examine them, vaccinate and sterilize them. If they are healthy enough, they are then released in their initial area and then kept in their habitat thanks to the support of volunteer citizens called “colony guards”. These guardians, along with the help and support of the shelter, then provide food and protection to these cats allowing them to continue to live within their colony.

The CSRM Program allows cats to live in their natural environment with the benefit of food provision and protection.
