Cage Traps

A cage trap is used to capture living animals without injuring them. Bait such as cat food, tuna, etc. is placed in the trap, and the mechanism is activated. When an animal enters the cage to get to the food, the door closes, trapping the animal inside.
Cage Trap Rental
We rent cage traps that can be used to trap stray cats or wildlife (racoons, skunks or groundhogs) to citizens of our partner cities. Using a cage trap to remove a wild animal should be a last resort. It is important to understand that removing wildlife from its home territory only opens the door for new nuisance animals to move in. Prevention, tolerance and healthy cohabitation are always preferable solutions. If the techniques described here don’t work, you may want to consider using a cage trap.
We can also deliver cages and pick up captured animals upon request, for a fee.
Stray Cats:
- You can rent a cage trap for a 10-day period with a $40 rental deposit.
- If the cage is returned after the 10-day period, a late fee of $5 a day will be charged.
Wildlife:
For wildlife, start by reviewing the “How to keep wildlife away” section before thinking about renting a cage trap.
- You can rent a cage trap for a 10-day period for a $40 rental deposit and an $120 relocation deposit.
- If the cage is returned after the 10-day period, a late fee of $5 a day will be charged.
- The $40 rental fee and $120 relocation deposit, totalling $160, will not be refunded if we have to relocate the animal.
IMPORTANT:
- Never leave a cage trap unchecked in the sun or very cold temperatures for a long time.
- Due to the cold weather and risk to animals, we do not rent cage traps during the winter. The service resumes when the temperature permits it.
