Awareness and Community Outreach

Community outreach is a key component of our mission to protect pets.

School Visits

We have been visiting primary and secondary schools in Longueuil, Boucherville, Saint-Bruno-de-Montarville, Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu, Saint-Alexandre, Saint-Blaise-sur-Richelieu, Saint-Valentin, Venise-en-Québec since 2013.

The purpose of our visits is to educate children about animal welfare and to prepare them to be good adopters. Depending on the age group, we address different topics, including the following:

  • The benefits of having a pet
  • The responsibilities involved in having a pet
  • Shelter issues like spaying/neutering, pet abandonment and identification
  • Bite prevention

If you are interested in having us present at your school, contact Patricia Durocher at pdurocher@proanima.com.

Park Kiosks

Every summer, we attend park events organized by our cities. It’s a great opportunity to meet with you and answer your questions on pets and the shelter’s activities. Don’t hesitate to come see us!

Volunteer Work with Community Organizations

We provide local community organizations with volunteer services geared to their needs. Volunteering can give people with physical or mental disabilities or individuals in rehabilitation a chance to develop certain skills, including following instructions and adhering to a schedule.

Since we receive many requests for volunteer services, we are selective of the organizations with which we work. If your organization is interested in taking advantage of our services, please contact Patricia Durocher at pdurocher@proanima.com.
