Here is information about our adoption procedures and fees.
To adopt a cat or an exotic animal:
Adoptions are done in person, on a first-come, first-served basis. Available animals can be met at all of our service centers during the following adoption hours:
Montreal branch:
Monday to Friday: 10 a.m. – 7 p.m.
Saturday and Sunday: 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.
Boucherville branch:
Monday/Tuesday/Wednesday/Friday: 12 p.m. – 4 p.m.
Thursday: 12 p.m. – 7 p.m.
Saturday and Sunday: 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.
Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu branch:
Monday to Sunday: 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.
When adopting, keep these points in mind:
- If you already know which animal you would like to meet, please let us know when you arrive. An adoption counselor will then meet with you in order of arrival.
- Information about animals available for adoption and their availability is provided during on-site visits and not by phone or email. Please come to the shelter to see all of our available animals.
- We operate on a first-come, first-served basis, which gives everyone an equal chance to meet the available animals, without reservations or waiting lists.
Step 1: Visit us in person
Our service centers are open for adoptions without appointment during adoption hours (see schedule above).
Important points:
- Adoptions are done on a first-come, first-served basis.
- Each visitor receives a personalized adoption consultation to ensure the best possible support. Because of this approach, wait times can sometimes be longer, especially on weekends.
- Once the meeting has begun, the entire process usually takes about 30 minutes.
Step 2: Finalize the adoption
If you have found your ideal companion, an advisor will accompany you to sign the adoption contract. You will have the opportunity to ask questions about training, integration into your home, etc.
Important reminder: Information about animals up for adoption and their availability is provided during on-site visits and not by phone or email. Please visit us to meet our available cats and exotic animals.
To adopt a dog:
Browse our available dogs and fill out the adoption application form. One of our staff members will contact you to schedule an appointment. You will then be able to meet the dog and discuss the details with our employee. If the meeting is successful, you can take your pet home after signing the adoption paperwork and paying the adoption fee.
