Services Animaliers Rive-Sud becomes Proanima

By Dorothée Pâris Pasturel • 25 September 2019

On September 25, Services Animaliers Rive-Sud (SARS) unveiled its new identity at an event attended by dignitaries, donors, board members, volunteers, employees and the media. Our organization, which came into being in 2012, has opted for a new name, logo and slogan to reflect the evolution of its mission and services to citizens since its inception. It now bears the name Proanima, supported by the slogan Serving people. Helping animals.

We wanted a name and visual identity that were even more representative of our raison d’être,” says Geneviève Desrochers, President and Founder of Proanima. Our mission is to inspire and educate people to respect and care for animals, one person, one community and one city at a time. We believe that proactive, concerted action with and within communities is essential to animal welfare. It’s this idea that we wanted to express with our new brand image.

The Proanima team wanted to find a name that not only better reflected its mission, but was also simpler and easier to remember. With multilingualism in mind, the team has chosen a name that can be easily said in both French and English. The prefix Pro refers to our commitment to the animal cause and our proactive actions. The word Anima comes from Latin, meaning “breath, soul”, from which the word animal is derived. The logo has also been redesigned to better represent our raison d’être. Three animal silhouettes look in the same direction, surrounded by a protective, caring hand, symbolizing organism and community and, ultimately, the bond between human and animal.

The new brand image has been updated on all Proanima platforms, and takes effect today.
